once upon a time...

OUR STORY

In the years following the global upheaval of COVID-19 pandemic, many people in Wetaskiwin found themselves feeling disconnected from their community. Social circles had shrunk, events had disappeared, and the sense of togetherness the town once relied on had faded.

The Wetaskiwin Women’s Society was founded in response to that gap.

What started as a simple idea—to bring women together again—quickly became something meaningful. A small group began organizing gatherings, creating space for conversation, support, and rebuilding friendships that had been put on hold. There was no need for anything elaborate; what mattered was connection.

As more women joined, the society grew into a welcoming network focused on community, inclusion, and shared experience. Events, meetups, and collaborations followed, all with the same purpose: to make sure no one felt isolated in a town that thrives on connection.

In a time when rebuilding community mattered more than ever, the Wetaskiwin Women’s Society became a place where people could find their way back to each other.

When women gather with purpose, communities thrive—and in Wetaskiwin, that spirit is alive and growing.
